Getting back up

By Jarann Johnson

The Hazen Bison girls’ basketball team started the year strong with an impressive home win over Our Redeemer’s but, since then, it has been a tough road for the Bison with only one win and three losses.
One loss was by a single point to Underwood and another loss was to the No. 8 team in the state, Dickinson Trinity. All the losses have been on the road, too, so even though the Bison have a sub .500 record it’s a little bit misleading.
The season is still a newborn for the Bison, with only one Region 7 game being played. But some trends have started to emerge. The two biggest trends are the team’s strong defensive ability and offensive struggles.
The Bison entered the week giving up an average of 44.6 points per game and Bison Head Coach John Ward has been very impressed with his squad’s defensive effort. Ward believes the team has been strong defensively because they play great help side defense and are comfortable with each other.
