Great hockey career ends
By Jarann Johnson
Many hockey fans may not have realized it but one of the best hockey careers in program history ended in mid-April. Karlee Schmitt was elected to the all-state NDAHA U19 girls team and also selected as a member of Team North Dakota for America’s Showcase, which was played in Saint Louis.
Schmitt, a goalkeeper, played well for the Hazen-Beulah girls hockey team, ending the year with a .923 saving percent stat line. Her performance helped her earn a roster spot on an elite showcase team, featuring the best U19 hockey players in North Dakota.
Schmitt said making the Team North Dakota roster was great. Team North Dakota only took two keepers and seven tried out for the team.
