Hazen and Beulah split 4 game series
By Jarann Johnson
Hazen and Beulah are rivals and they met for two doubleheaders. The first doubleheader was Thursday in Beulah and the second was Monday in Hazen. Both teams ended up grabbing a region counter win and a non-region counter win. The series ended in a 2-2 split.
Things seemed like they were going Beulah’s way at the start of the game Thursday night. They turned a double-play to end the first inning and Derek Ferebee hit a leadoff triple to start the bottom of the first inning. Hazen starter Dylan Martell remained calm with No. 2-hitter Dawson Bieber coming up.
Martell coaxed Bieber into a fielder’s choice grounder. Ferebee was caught trying to advance home and Hazen tagged him out eliminating the running chance. Martell and Hazen wiggled out of the first inning with a 0-0 tie.
