Hazen Astros baseball heating up
By Jarann Johnson
The Hazen Astros are on a 4-game winning streak. Hazen started last week by sweeping Crosby on the road and then added another road sweep against Garrison. The winning streak moved them to 13-6 on the season.
The most interesting game during the win streak was the game vs. Garrison. Both teams combined for 42 hits and 43 runs. The final score was 25-18 in Hazen’s favor.
Hazen looked on their way to an easy win after three complete innings, they were up 11-1. Garrison starting pitcher Noah Sloka gave up four runs on walks and wasn’t having any luck slowing down Hazen’s bats when he threw strikes.
Sloka gained some revenge in the bottom of the fourth hitting a 2-run double. Sam Larson followed with a 2-run double cutting Hazen’s lead down to 11-5. Hazen’s starting pitcher, Josh Snyder, was still ahead but Hazen head coach Scott Leintz decided to switch pitchers.
Leintz gave the game to Jayce Zuern in the bottom of the fourth. Zuern struggled to end Garrison’s hot streak giving up two more runs, which moved Garrison within four runs, 11-7.
