Hazen beats Shiloh with walkoff single

By Jarann Johnson

Things didn’t start well for Hazen at home against Shiloh or end well last week. But Hazen found a way to hold on and collect a region counter win 12-11. Hazen lost the nightcap 14-4.
Shiloh started off the region counter with a big swing. Canaan Fagerland hit a 2-run homer putting Shiloh up 2-0 in the first inning. Hazen countered with a big hit from Steeve Baardson. Baardson hit a 2-run double off the fence, tying the game in the bottom of the first.
Hazen kept their quick rally alive with a sacrifice bunt by Dylan Martell. Martell’s bunt added another run, giving Hazen a 3-2 lead. Hazen kept pushing their lead in the second with a big hit in the second inning. Jayce Zuern hit a grand slam pushing Hazen to a 7-2 lead.
