Hazen boys track take second place

By Jarann Johnson

Hazen added a few more state qualifiers at the South Central Region meet last weekend. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday but moved to Friday because of weather concerns. Those concerns didn’t bother Hazen’s state-qualifiers.
Ian Busche, a freshman, hadn’t qualified in any events heading into the South Central meet. He quickly qualified his distance races. Taking third in the half-mile (2:12) and third in the mile (4:48). But he wasn’t done qualifying.
Busche also qualified the pole vault by taking second place (10-06). Gabe Pfliger, a Hazen junior, joined Busche as a state-qualifier in the pole vault. Pfliger’s won the pole vault with a mark of eleven feet.
