Hazen FB can’t come back

By Jarann Johnson

The Hazen Bison put themselves in a hole and didn’t find a way out. Bishop Ryan upset Hazen on the road winning 31-14.
The start of the game saw Bishop Ryan come out on a mission. Bishop Ryan senior Cole Dauphinais got his team off to a strong start by returning the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.
Just like that Hazen was down and needed to battle back. Hazen’s offense didn’t move the ball and was forced to punt.
Bishop Ryan didn’t waste any time taking advantage of Hazen’s defense. Eli Stewart, a senior quarterback, found Cody Feist for a 57-yard touchdown pass. Hazen’s defense didn’t cover the flat on the play and it hurt them.
Hazen’s offense didn’t turn the page and had another tough break. Hazen prepared to punt the ball but punter Peyton Leintz didn’t get a good snap and had no choice but to dive on the ball.
The turnover led to a Dauphinais 15-yard touchdown run and completed a dominant start. Bishop Ryan found themselves up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Hazen didn’t make the same kind of mistakes in the second quarter but they still found themselves down big.  Dauphinais added his third touchdown of the game on a 14-yard run, which put Hazen down 28-0 at the end of one half.
