Hazen girls basketball win tight game

By Jarann Johnson

Two weeks ago Hazen’s girls had a slow start and it cost them at home. Last week they showed up for the first quarter but faced a tougher challenge – closing out the game. Hazen’s girls barely held on at home for a 46-44 win over Region 7 foe Dickinson Trinity.
Dickinson Trinity got off to slow start Tuesday night and Hazen took advantage. Hazen led 12-6 after one period of play and things kept going their way in the second quarter.
Hazen senior starting point guard Raquel Doll converted an and-1 after securing a rebound, which put Hazen up 22-8. Trinity trimmed Hazen’s lead a little bit before the halftime break. Abby Kubas, Dickinson Trinity post, split a pair of free throws, cutting Hazen’s lead to 30-18 before the half.
