The Hazen Bison continued their early season success last Tuesday at a home meet. Hazen state qualified the 4x100 and 4x400 at their first home meet of the season and second meet overall.
Hazen’s girls won the 4x100 in a time of 1:59.44, which was the best time in the state last week. The junior trio of Elise Hintz, Grace Zimmerman, and Katie Duttenhefer teamed with freshman Hannah Sailer to record the mark.
Zimmerman, Duttenhefer, and Hintz were also part of another state qualifying relay. Hazen state qualified the 4x400 in 4:14.90, which was the second best time in the state last week. Junior Raquel Doll teamed up with Hintz, Zimmerman, and Duttenhefer in the race.
Hazen also placed in the 4x200 at the meet. Alayanna Klein, Breien Berger, Cece Pfliger and Hannah Sailer combined for a 4th place effort (1:59.44).
Berger, a sophomore, also placed seventh in the pole vault, vaulting 6 feet and 6 inches. The only other Hazen athlete to place in a field event was Mackenzie Walters.
Walters, a junior, won the discus with a toss of 106-00, which is only 9 feet away from state qualifying.
