The Beulah Miners had a strong start but couldn’t figure out a way to keep Hazen junior point guard Raquel Doll under wraps and fell 56-28. Doll ended the game with 24 points.
The Beulah Miners got off to a great start against Hazen. Emily Alt, a junior guard, turned a steal into a 2-0 Beulah lead. Moments later Erin Walcker, a Beulah sophomore guard, turned a Hazen turnover into a 4-0 Beulah lead.
Beulah fans started believing their team could grab an upset Region 7 win. But Hazen senior guard Courtney Rask quickly chilled those thoughts with a 3-pointer, which cut Beulah’s lead to 4-3.
Beulah junior forward Dayton Keltner pushed Beulah’s lead back to a bucket by splitting a pair of free throws but it wasn’t enough to avoid a tie. Hazen junior guard Raquel Doll turned a steal into a lay up to tie things up at 5-5 with 5 minutes left to play.
