Hazen plays well in tournament opener

Babe Ruth baseball can be a test of the nerves for fans but for Hazen fans, it was a nice day in the park on opening day. Hazen, the No.1-North seed for the District 5 Babe Ruth tournament, handled their business well, topping Washburn 16-1 for an opening day win in Beulah.
Adin Jungers started for Hazen and retired Washburn without giving up a run in the first inning. Jungers also got his team’s offensive attack started with a leadoff single off of Washburn starter Tyler Kulzer in the bottom of the first.
Hazen No. 5-Hitter Austin Martell recorded the first RBI of the game by batting in a runner on a fielder’s choice. Tyson Wick followed with an RBI single and Hazen added one more run on a passed ball.
