Hazen Post 189 is rolling strongly

By Jarann Johnson

Hazen Post 189 moved their regular season record to 23-4 with a doubleheader sweep over the Bismarck Capitals Monday. Hazen won the first game 6-1 and the second game 10-0. The sweep moved Hazen’s winning streak to seven games.
Chase Bruner started the first game of the doubleheader on the mound for Hazen and quickly cut through Bismarck’s lineup. Bruner retired Bismarck in 1-2-3 order. Jayden Baumiller was equally as effective in the first and pitched a scoreless frame.
The game transitioned to the second inning with both pitchers throwing scoreless frames. The third inning was when the game got interesting for both pitchers.
Eric Fettig hit a leadoff single for Bismarck to start the third. Baumiller advanced Fettig with a sacrifice bunt.
With one out and a man on second James Inman hit a single, putting base runners on first and third with one out. Bruner didn’t panic in the unfavorable situation, recording a fielder’s choice ground ball.
