Hazen trying to 4-peat in Region 7

Hazen made sure to remind everyone why they are the reigning Region 7 champions Monday night. Hazen topped Glen Ullin-Hebron 3-0 at the Region 7 tournament hosted by Dickinson Trinity.
Hazen won the match 25-16, 25-21 and 25-23 and will advance to the Region 7 semifinals.
Hazen jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set. Hazen quickly pushed their lead to 8-2 on an Olivia Byerley kill. Glen Ullin-Hebron head coach Maria Stockert called a timeout to regroup but her effort proved fruitless.
Hazen took care of business in the set winning 25-16. Nicole Faut ended the set with consecutive aces, 25-16.
The second set was more of a battle. Hazen jumped out to a 5-0 lead with Tia Bornemann at the serving line. Glen Ullin-Hebron didn’t disappear after the weak start. Kinsey Zuroff rallied her team with two aces during a 6-0 run.
The teams traded turns in the lead and stayed close until late in the set. Hazen led 22-20 and Byerley came up with a key block pushing Hazen to a 23-20 lead. Glen Ullin/Hebron tried to battle back but a lifting violation ended the set 25-21 in Hazen’s favor.
