Hazen wins 2018 coal bowl

Beulah was the favorite entering the 2018 Coal Bowl. They were at home, undefeated and hadn’t lost in three years to Hazen. Hazen didn’t care about the past, they played with passion from the start of the game and held on for a 22-16 road win last Friday.
Beulah got an interception on Hazen’s first drive of the game. Tryston Miller secured the interception but his team couldn’t take advantage of the early turnover. After a failed fourth down Hazen took over.
Hazen used the momentum for their first scoring drive of the night, which was capped by a 1-yard Isaac Doll run. Doll, a junior QB, put his team up 6-0 with 3:55 left in the first quarter. Hazen added a 2-pt conversion on a run by Tyson Van Inwagen, which put them up 8-0.
Beulah was in trouble. They trailed 8-0 after one period and their offense and defense didn’t look strong. Hazen meanwhile kept up their strong start to the game and added another 1-yard Doll touchdown run in the second quarter.
