Miner Invite goes well

The Beulah-Hazen wrestling team produced two champions at their home tournament last weekend but more impressively, the Miners came away with 10 top-three finishers and are looking like a team that will be tough at the regional and state meets in February.
Isaac Ripplinger didn’t waste any time showing that he was back to full strength after an ankle injury caused him to miss the Bismarck Rotary Tournament last week. B-H’s senior leader picked up two pins for a first place finish at 220.
Damian Eslinger also went on an impressive championship run at the Miner Invite. Eslinger pinned all of his opponents for three straight wins.
The last and most impressive pin was a 2 minute and 31 second pin over Sam Schweitzer (St. Mary’s). Eslinger’s pin gave him championship honors.
Tyler Erickson (145) looked like he was also poised for a championship at the tournament after winning his first three matches by pin. But the young wrestler’s favorable start was ruined in his fourth tournament match.
Logan Boese (Bismarck) pinned Erickson in 4 minutes and 28 seconds, leaving Erickson with a runner-up finish at 145.
Justice Roundy suffered a similar fate to Erickson at 182. Roundy started the tournament strongly with two consecutive pins but couldn’t break Jake Sanders’ (Bismarck) control in the championship match and fell 5-1.
