Miners FB runs straight to win
By Jarann Johnson
The Beulah Miners opened the season with a bang. They used a trio of big runs to put Stanley away early in the game and won 40-0 on a neutral field in Killdeer last week.
Senior Mikey Morris started Beulah’s trio of big runs in the first by running a touchdown in from 54 yards out. Fellow senior Tyler Erickson ran in a touchdown from 60 yards out moments later.
The only criticism Beulah fans and coaches had about the first quarter was their extra-point performance. Beulah missed a kick and failed to convert a two-point conversion. The extra point struggles only allowed Beulah to walk away from their long touchdown runs with a 12-0 lead.
Beulah added a third long touchdown run in the second quarter when Derek Ferebee ran one in from 60 yards out. Ferebee’s touchdown put Beulah up 18-0. This time Morris made the kick moving Beulah’s lead to 19-0.
The rest of the game didn’t feature any big touchdown runs. Beulah added three more scores – an 11-yard pass from Morris to Mason Dolbec, an 11-yard Ferebee run and a 15-yard run by Johnnie Brown.
The game ended with Beulah winning 40-0.
