Miners qualify 11 for state

The goal in the post season is to build momentum and be operating at near perfection. The Beulah-Hazen wrestling team accomplished that feat last Saturday at the Region 4 individual tournament hosted by Standing Rock.
B-H had four tournament champions, 11 state placers and 13 wrestlers finish in the top 5 at the regional tournament. Josh Snyder relieved worries about his hand injury by winning the region championship at 138.
Snyder pinned Lane Doll (New Salem-Almont) in his first match of the tourney and followed up with a 5-4 win in the championship round over Mathew Carlson (Bowman County).
The only other place where B-H seemed to have good luck in championship bouts was the heavyweight class. Justice Roundy (182) followed Snyder’s lead with a first round pin in his opening match, against Connor Dennis (Watford City) and followed with a one-point 7-6 championship win over Dillian Jepson.
Alex Barbion kept the streak of strong heavy weight wrestling going at 195 with an 18-second pin in his first match over Beau Jeffers (Bowman County) and a championship pin over Jacob Schalseky (Hettinger) in 2:34 to win the title.
