Northstars grab 1st win since 2016

Hazen-Beulah Northstar fans had to wait 653 days for this win. The journey to last Thursday’s win was tough but rewarding. Hazen-Beulah topped the Bismarck JV team on their home ice 3-0.
After the game, Hazen Beulah coach Dan Frei said getting a win felt great.
“Obviously it feels good to win. We told the boys in the locker room that the last two years we’ve been preaching working hard and doing the right thing – eventually, we will get there and the hockey will come easier. So far this year, we’ve played hockey,” Frei said.
“Tonight we played hockey. It helps when your goalie has 56 saves. They are definitely starting to play hockey and look like a hockey team. It’s good to get that W.”
The win was keyed by a great performance from goal keeper Evan Eliason. Elias posted 56 saves in the win. Frei pointed to Eliason’s rebound control as a big factor in the win
“Evan is a solid goaltender all the time. There are times when he struggles with rebound control, which allow teams to get some pucks in the net. Tonight, he did a pretty good job keeping pucks under control, not giving up second opportunities and making the big save when he needed to,” Frei said. “I know he can do it. We tend to expect him to. And it’s fun to see.”
