Northstars taste small success
By Jarann Johnson
Some success is better than no success. Last week Hazen-Beulah opened another season with two home losses but they scored more goals in six periods of hockey than they did all last season.
Even though Hazen-Beulah lost 9-3 to Mandan and 8-1 to Jamestown there were some positive take away moments. Sophomores Dayton Fiddler and Caleb Myra found a connection on the ice. Myra scored two goals assisted by Fiddler during the Mandan game.
Hazen-Beulah’s other score in the game was an unassisted goal by Gabe Pfliger. Fiddler kept it going the next game with another assist. This time Brayden Moore put the scoring touch on vs. Jamestown.
There aren’t many bright spots when a team gets outscored 17-4 in their first two games of the year. But Hazen-Beulah coach Dan Frei said this year’s start was much better than last year’s.
