Region 7 tournament preview

The Region 7 tournament is here. Hazen Bison fans have been waiting all season to try to re-claim the Region 7 crown and head back to Minot for the state tournament.
The top four seeded teams all present different task. The No. 1-seeded team entering the tournament is Dickinson Trinity in the region tournament.
Trinity didn’t lose any Region 7 games this year and the tournament is being played on their home floor so they are one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Hazen Bison Head Coach Linette Irwin talked about the strengths of Dickinson Trinity.
“I think that we match up really well with them. They have very strong offensive players with four years of experience. So they are big hitters on their outside. They serve well, they are well-coached. We are just going to have to play really hard, put together a solid match to beat them,” Irwin said.
Slowing down Trinity’s big hitters will be a task for any team at the Region 7 tournament. Irwin said Trinity’s go-to hitters don’t have a tendency and are tough because they are really smart players that understand the game.
“I think they are really smart and being seniors they just know how to play really well. We’ll just have to play well on defense. They don’t have a tendency that you can pick out. They will do whatever they can do to win. They may tip a lot against us then the next time they don’t. So they are just really smart players I just can’t say that they have tendencies,” Irwin said.
Coach Irwin said as the No. 2-seeded team that her club’s strengths are their passing and blocking. Irwin pointed to those two areas as keys for her team to have a good tournament.
