Revenge mission halted

By Jarann Johnson

The Hazen Bison ended their year with a clear message – hide your basketballs, hide your jerseys, and hide your fans because we’re coming after everybody. The Bison started their revenge mission with a regular season finale win over Beulah, then they avenged a regular season loss to Richardton-Taylor in the first round of the Region 7 boys’ tournament.
In the second round of the Region 7 tournament the revenge mission put Hazen up against New England, the No. 1-seeded team in the region. New England lived up to the No. 1 seed with a 71-50 win Monday night in Dickinson.
The first quarter went OK for the Bison. They weren’t down by a lot and even had the game right where they wanted it.
New England led 18-14, but an unexpected hero shot by post John Urlacher at the buzzer moved the score to 21-14 and took a little bit of the momentum away from Hazen.
New England turned seven points into nine and led 33-24 at halftime. The main problem for Hazen was making shots; the Bison were shooting 27 percent from the field.
