State volleyball preview
By Jarann Johnson
Several teams hope to get to the big stage every year. But only eight teams make it to the state tournament. Thursday night will be the opening night of the Class B and Class A state volleyball tournament in Minot.
There is no outright favorite this year. Langdon Area-Munich enters the tournament as the top-seeded team with the most wins this season (41-3 overall). They are also an experienced team, competing in the last three state tournaments taking 2nd in 2015, 3rd in 2016 and 3rd last year. They missed the state tournament in 2014.
One of the teams who beat them earlier this year was Thompson. Thompson is seeded No. 2 for the tournament and earned two wins against Langdon Area-Munich this year. One win was in regular season tournament and another win was in a regular-season match.
