Washburn wins because of slow Hazen start
By Jarann Johnson
Washburn defeated the Hazen Astros 13-2 last Thursday, July 11. Even though the Astros were at home they looked uncomfortable in the first inning. Washburn lead 8-0 after the first inning and didn’t glance into their rear view mirrors the rest of the game.
Karson Hintz, Hazen, and Kirk Sailer, Washburn, started at pitcher for their teams. Washburn took the lead off Zach Hruby’s RBI single and added two more runs off Kirk Sailer’s two-run double. Sam Goos hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 4-0 with two outs.
