Local wrestling fans finally got to see their team wrestle close to home last week. Beulah-Hazen hosted a dual against New Salem early in the week and ended the week by hosting a small tournament on Saturday.
Beulah-Hazen came up just short of a team win in their dual against New Salem-Almont, losing 33-31. On Saturday Beulah-Hazen produced 12 tournament placers with five reaching the tournament finals. Adin Jungers, an eighth-grader, won the tournament at 106 for Beulah-Hazen. Jungers ripped through the tournament in dominant fashion. None of his matches went the full length.
Jungers pinned Logan Heen (Bismarck St. Mary’s) in 2 minutes and 44 seconds to start the tournament. Next, he pinned fellow teammate Cade Harm in 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Jungers also faced a teammate during the third round of the tournament.
Again Jungers dominated the match, pinning Quentin Blevins in 1 minute and 33 seconds. Jungers didn’t get a pin in the tournament semifinals. Jungers won by tech fall over Jaxyn Richter (St. Mary’s) in 4 minutes and 42 seconds. Jungers won the match 15-0.
