Wrestling looking to recover
By Jarann Johnson
Rumble on the Red is the most competitive tournament on the wrestling schedule in North Dakota. It’s tougher than Bismarck Rotary, New Salem’s East-West Classis, and the state tournament. There are wrestlers from all over the Midwest – Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and even Wyoming.
Hazen-Beulah didn’t come out of the super meet with any placers. No one got past the fourth round of wrestle backs.
Tyler Erickson (160) started the tournament with a bye then he picked up a win over Isaac Atchison (Blaine, MN) 5-2. The next two rounds were tough for Erickson. He suffered a pin in 1 minute and 45 seconds to Cade Mueller (Waconia, MN). Mueller went on to finish 5th at the tournament.
Erickson’s first match in wrestle-backs was against Jacob Forar (Lakeville North). Forar won 5-4. Forar only made it one round further and did not place a the tournament.
