By Jarann Johnson
Beulah-Hazen hosted their only home meet of the 2018 cross-country season. Neither team came away with a first-place showing but both teams did a great job of pushing runners into the top 20 of the meet.
Beulah-Hazen’s boys pushed three top 20 finishers across the finish line for a third-place showing. Ian Busche, a freshman, led the team by taking fifth place overall in 17 minutes and 53 seconds. Isak Olson, a Beulah-Hazen senior, finished the 5K (3.1-mile) course in 18:29.78, which was good enough for 12th place overall. Beulah-Hazen’s only other runner in the top 20 was junior Dayton Fiddler. Fiddler took 19th with a time of 19:37.78 at the meet.
Beulah-Hazen completed their score with finishes by Roy Morsette and Tanner Palaniuk. Morsette, a sophomore, finished 27th in 20:21.28 and Palaniuk, a sophomore was 44th (21:06.28). Rugby, an East Region team, took first at the meet and was led by four runners in the top 20.
