The Washburn boys’ team has continued to step up through adversity this year, first losing one of their few inside presences in Monty Johnson and then recently having to play without the team’s top scoring threat, Jeff Rasmussen.
The odds of it happening at some point in the season were likely; players sometimes have bad nights and there are times when calls just don’t go your way.
To borrow a line from a song: ‘Mama said there’d be days like this.’
It wasn’t exactly the district tournament, but if the McLean County tournament held in Underwood last weekend was any indication, the Washburn Cardinals can feel at least a little optimistic about how they fared in the post-season practice run.
The final set of games before Christmas break saw the Washburn Cardinals hosting the Underwood Comets in double-header action last Tuesday night.
