Cardinals finish off regular season with a win on senior night

This year, Washburn has a group of five seniors on the team, all playing significant minutes during the season: Lindsey Wicklander, Samantha Tweeten, Allison Weisgarber, Candace Ankenbauer, and Samantha Tweeten. Typically, senior nights fall on the last home game of the year for a team. The combination of playing the final game of the regular season and the seniors’ last time on their home court makes for an emotional game for everyone. The Cardinal volleyball senior night was a bit different in that regard this year because the team is already guaranteed a spot in the regional tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Washburn. So, in their senior night game against the Center-Stanton Wildcats, it was for sure not this team’s last game on their home court, but the players still showed up with the intention of closing out their season schedule with a mark in the win column. An underachieving team on the season, the Wildcats put up a fight and drew close on a couple of sets, but the Cardinals were easily the better team in this game, winning the first three sets and ending the game in quick fashion.
