The day started warm and quiet, with the Northland Run/Walk the first event. Winners of Northland Community Health Center’s 5K were (first place) Kevin Franck (18:09); (second place) Kendra Franck (21:05); and (third place) Tyler Franck (22.04).
The McClusky Merchants Association members reviewed the plans for the Midsummer Fest at their June 25 meeting at the Union Grill. All is in process, some a bit less structured than others, but as one member laughingly stated, “Flying by the seat of our pants is what we do best.”
Ray Salata of Grand Forks has been elected Governor of North Dakota Boys State, a gathering of 130 participants this week on the North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) campus in Wahpeton. Salata is a student at Grand Forks Red River High School. Boys State runs from June 9-14.
There was a lot of activity going on at the June Sheridan County Commission meeting for a rainy kind of day, and with the rain continuing to fall. Roads and ditches and everything, everywhere in the county, showing signs of being at or exceeding its capacity, Sheridan County Commissioners were left with the task of finding solutions.
The June city meeting saw the final appearance of Mark Miller, who has resigned effective July 1 to relocate in Lincoln, ND. He stated that they weren’t selling their home in McClusky until they were sure they had one ready to live in at their new location.
The St Jude bike riding event was sponsored by SCIPY and coordinated by Erin Lauer. Lauer stated,” The event was open from ages under one year old up to adults. This year we raised over $1,000 and it was held on May 15, at 4 pm. We plan to do it again next spring.”
