When Leo and Jackie Froehlich arrived in Devils Lake, they immediately fell in love with the community. Neighbor Jay Schneider is always ready, willing and available to shovel snow off the elderly couple’s sidewalk.
There were several go-aheads for planned SCiPY projects, one a continuation of their Bingo gaming event on Saturday nights. The other was permission, liability issues resolved first, for a snow fun day event on Main Street on February 27 at 2 p.m.
In an issue that may take a different turn of events before closure, First District Health representatives, Jim Heckman and Jake Windsor, as well as Sheridan County State’s Attorney Jerod Tufte, met with Sheridan County Commissioners on Feb. 1 at the regular monthly meeting to address several buildings in disrepair on Goodrich’s main street.
With the eyes of the community watching, the repair to the heavily fire-damaged Co-op Elevator is keeping on schedule. Manager Brian Larson stated that the last time he spoke with Northern Grain Construction and Design out of Clara City, MN, they were still on schedule with usable premises on March 30, 2011 and completed by the next month on April 30.
A day for area ranchers and farmers to gather and socialize at information sessions will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3 at the McClusky City Community Center. The event, lunch and door prizes are sponsored by the Sheridan Association and numerous local businesses.
With a strong line of U.S. Marine-fired energy and dedication to duty, Alan Hornbacher is tackling a new frontline battle in Drake, close to his farm home near Anamoose. He notes that the Marine Corps gives him support in his determination to succeed in this new venture quoting, “The difficult we do right away; the impossible takes a bit longer.”
