Daycare need high in McClusky

Daycare need high in McClusky

By ALLAN TINKER
Andrea Deseth, receptionist at the Sheridan Animal Hospital, McClusky, is the mother of a three-year old girl named Ken-adee. She has been the community’s leader in trying to secure a daycare facility for McClusky and has become frustrated in her effort. She stated, “Everyone is affected by the lack of a daycare; everybody wants a daycare, but it seems no one else has volunteered to help get one.”
Deseth is a graduate of Good-rich High School, where she was active in many school and community programs, including excelling in 4-H. She studied human resource development at University of Mary and currently lives in McClusky.
She noted that there had been a large turnout of parents needing daycare for the meeting concerning daycare at a past Job Development Authority (JDA) meeting. But, she added, no one seems to want to commit to managing or working at one.
An offer of the former Holen Construction building, located west of the city, as a possible site was offered by Rhonda Boehm, with remodeling necessary for the use of that building. An inquiry into possible location in the Schindler building (Post Office) was also made, with no positive action developed on that location either.
Former daycare options have dwindled with ABC Daycare‘s Bert Voegele closing her facility and Tina Bertsch in-home daycare also stopping child care services.
