By ALLAN TINKER
Paper, we got paper, we got stacks and stacks of paper . . . Ta dum, ta dum, ta dum, Dear Supplier, Would you be so kind, to fill a request, and send the strawberries
we like best? With orders filled, almost, every week, Holen’s Super Valu Diane and Scott Holen have tried everything but song to get in what their customers request
or need. The COVID-19 pandemic hoarding spurt emptied most stores of items that included toilet paper, baby wipes, chlorine bleach, hand sanitizer and assorted other cleaning products. Slowly, their supplier started filling Holen’s Super Valu sale items return items back ordered the longest. Just as slowly, the store’s shelves filled with more balanced choices for customers. At Easter time, with toilet paper in short supply, a found, stray package was opened; rolls were bagged separately. Then, for free, customers could take one.
The attached sign explained the store was out of stock, but if they were desperate, customers could take a roll for free, sharing the small supply. They were asked to think of others
who might need some as well.
