Trojans and Hornets win

Harvey Wells/County Hornets split with the Trojans Saturday afternoon on the Trojans’ home court. The Hornets won the girls contest 63-45 and the Trojans took the boys 61-60.
Trista Crimmins and Mariah Sellon both scored 14 points for the Trojans against the Horn-ets. Six -foot junior center Alecia Koropatnicki scored 32 points for the Hornets.
The Trojans played very well in the first quarter and led 17-14 after a drive and bucket from Kennedy Sondrol and a steal and bucket from Haley Zinke.
Alecia Koropatnicki and Nicole Erickson scored buckets in the last twenty seconds of the first quarter to give the Hornets an 18-17 lead at the end of one.
The second quarter started with the Mariah Sellon show as she scored a triple and a pair of deuces to put the Trojans in front 24-18 at the 5:48 mark.
Buckets from Kara Fike and Koropatnicki cut the Trojans’ lead to 24-22. Sellon answered with a triple from the left wing to put the Trojans up 27-22.
A Brittany Neumiller free throw and bucket from Koropatnicki closed the gap to 27-25 Trojans.
Crimmins answered with a base line drive and bucket at the 1:31 mark but that was answered by the Neumiller/Koroparnicki duo again with a free throw and a bucket to end the first half with the Trojans in front 29-28.
Koroparniki took over the third quarter as she scored twice in the first forty seconds of the quarter, putting the Hornets in front 32-29. Koropatnicki scored ten of her thirty two points in the third quarter.
The Trojans ran into a scoring drought as the only points in the third quarter were six points from Crimmins. The Hornets led at the end of three 44-35
A bucket from Crimmins to start the fourth quarter put the score at 44-37. That was as close as the Trojans could get as the Hornets answered any Trojans scores.
The Hornets made a 10-2 run the last 3:35 of the game to win 63-45.
The loss left the Trojans with two wins and seven losses while the Hornets improve to eight wins and one loss.
