Battle of Warriors favors Mandaree

By Jerry W. Kram
You might call it the battle to be the Ultimate Warriors.
It was White Shield taking on Mandaree, what announcer Charlie Moran called “the battle between the Arikara and Hidatsa” for the right to take on the Powers Lake Ranchers Thursday for a trip to the State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament.
Tuesday’s game between the Mandaree Warriors, the number one seed from District 15, and the White Shield Warriors, the number three seed, could not have been closer until the end of the game. Mandaree led by one point after the first quarter, the game was tied at halftime, White Shield led by one after the third quarter and the score was tied again at the end of regulation. The entire game came down to free throws in overtime.
