Parshall’s boys basketball team closed out the regular season with two big wins over Our Redeemers and Divide County to give them momentum going into the district tournament that starts tonight in New Town.
The Braves, seeded No. 3 in District 15, will take on No. 6-seeded North Shore-White Shield tonight at 7:30 in the Northern Lights Community Center. The Braves/Wildcats game will be the final game of the opening round with the winner taking on Mandaree, a team that received a first-round bye.
The second game of the district tournament will pit No. 4 Stanley against No. 5 New Town with the winner facing Watford City.
On Monday night, Parshall knocked off the Our Redeemers Knights 68-62 to close out the regular season. The Braves had balanced scoring attack with Cole Hendrickson leading the way with 18, followed by Morgan Smith, 16 and Jaren Enockson, 15. Myles Chase also hit double figures with 11 and Justin Many Ribs and Cody Billadeau also got into the scorebook.
For the Knights, Luke Sorum led all scorers with 25 and Joel Deckert added 20. Our Redeemers got little production from the rest of its players, although five other Knights scored against the Braves.
The Saturday afternoon 65-60 win against Divide County was a much-more emotionally charged contest since it was played at home and since it was against a better team, arguably, than Our Redeemers.
