Braves edge Blue Jays in big man battle

By Jerry W. Kram
It was a battle of the big men as two of the tallest teams in Region 8 faced off in Parshall. The Braves boys basketball teams triumphed over the Stanley Blue Jays 67-63 thanks to a strong second quarter keyed by Billy Moran and Deyondre Simpson.
The game was unusual in that neither team has really faced another team with as many tall players as itself. Simpson and Moran both top 6’4” as do Kaedyn and Wyatt Hanson for Stanley. The teams were even in the early going, and the first quarter ended in a 13-13 tie. In the second, the Braves started out with a seven point run, but the Blue Jays responded to get close at 24-23. But the Braves went on another 12-4 run and wound up outscoring the Blue Jays 23-14 in the quarter to lead 36-27. Those nine points would be the difference in the game.
