Braves split going into holiday break
By Jerry W. Kram
With four new starters on the floor, Head Coach Nick Ator knew that this season was going to be a learning experience for the Parshall Braves girls basketball team. The Braves have struggled in the early going against a number of top teams in the area, including a loss Monday to the Knights of Our Redeemer’s Christian School by a score of 70-56.
"The teams that have beat us have been very good teams," Ator said. "Maybe if you weren’t at the games, maybe you see the inflated score. But if you were at these games I thought we played pretty well in all of them."
The Braves started strongly, and even had a brief lead in the first quarter at 9-7 and were tied with the Knights’ at 12 with a minute to go in the quarter. The Knights height and experience took over and ORCS went on a 12-2 run over the next three minutes of the game and never relinquished the lead. It was a foul filled first half as the Braves were charged with 17 fouls and the Knights were tagged with 12. At the half, the Knights led the Braves 36-25.
