Braves stumble after beating Stanley

Braves stumble after beating Stanley
By Jerry W. Kram

The Parshall Braves boys basketball team got off two a good start last week with a solid victory of the Stanley Blue Jays, 59-48 to even their record at 5-5. But the Braves weren’t able to continue their winning ways as they went down in back to back away games, first losing to the Glenburn Panthers 69-61 and the North Shore Plaza Wildcats 58-54.
The Braves established their dominance of the 1-8 Blue Jays early with a five point lead in the first quarter. The Braves slowly added to their lead as the game went on, taking a six point lead into the locker room at halftime and getting ahead by seven after three quarters. Jade Moran led all scorers with 21 points and Monte Good Bird and Dean Foote contributed 15 and 14 points. The Braves went 6 for 8 from the free throw line.
After getting back to .500 for the second time this season, The Braves traveled to face the Panthers of Glenburn. Despite 20 points from Dean Foote and 16 from Justin Roberts, the Braves found themselves down early and behind by double digits at halftime.
