Lady Braves in Region 8 final

The Lady Braves were at Northern Lights in New Town to play in the Region 8 Girls Basketball tournament. As a second seed, their first game was against the third seed Ray Lady Jays.
The Lady Braves started the game fast but the Lady Jays stayed close. The first quarter ended with Lady Braves 11 and Lady Jays 9. In the second quarter, the Lady Braves were up by eight at one time. Some good breaks helped to secure a half time lead. The half ended Lady Braves 27 and Lady Jays 21.
In the third quarter, the Lady Braves switched to a three-two defense that helped keep the scoring down. The Lady Braves were sparked by Devanee Hale’s two three pointers. The other girls followed and had some good plays. Alexis Woods had one of her many steals and followed with a layup. Rayessa Odermann drove around the defense and put it in for two. Cheyanne Packineau and Nicole Packineau controlled the boards. The Lady Braves broke away in the third quarter and had a fourteen point lead. The third period ended with the Lady Braves 43 and Lady Jays 29. The Lady Jays committed only one foul in the quarter and just two in the half. In the last period, Alexis Woods and Maisey Gilles had good steals and also made some nice plays. The offense got going to produce good streaks. The Lady Braves had control of the game and went on to a win. Final score was Lady Braves 56 and Lady Jays 38.
