Lady Braves snatch victory in OT
By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves girls basketball team climbed to 9-7 with a lopsided win over Tioga 59-23 and a tough overtime victory over the Ray Jays by a score of 56-54.
Parshall started off strong, outscoring the Jays 17-12 in the first half, but their hot hand cooled off in the second quarter and the Jays were able to take a close 37-35 lead into the locker room at halftime. Head Coach Nick Ator said that streaky shooting has been a problem for the Braves all season.
"I’ve seen these girls knock down those shots in practice," Ator said. "It seems like that when we get into the games we struggle. I feel like that maybe we will get hot at the end of the year. That’s when you want to be hot."
Aulora Severance had trouble getting the ball in from close range for much of the first half. She came on the second half and wound up scoring some key baskets in overtime and finishing with a game high 21 points. Other scoring leaders were Sierra Rensch with 15 points and Sidney Hall with 11.
