‘Hackers’ win Minneapolis 3-on-3 tournament
Girls blast opposition with 5-0 record
The “Hackers,” a 12 and 13-year-old girls 3-on-3 basketball team from the Fort Berthold Reservation, won the championship in the Hoop-It-Up tournament held last weekend in Minneapolis. The “Hackers,” Jay Dawn Two Bears, Baeleigh Brady, Mckayla Howling Wolf and Lariah Quickbear, won five straight games to claim the championship in a 2-point win over the Minneapolis Stars. They are now qualified to play in the world championships next July in San Antonio. The girls are coached by Damon Brady of New Town.
“Hoop-It-Up,” the world’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament tour was played in downtown Minneapolis Aug. 8-9. There are 15 regional tournaments throughout the United states with the world championships being held in Texas.
