The North Dakota Fishing Hall of Fame grew by two last Thursday, and like the predecessors before them, Jason Mitchell of Devils Lake and Terry Fleck of Bismarck are passionate when it comes to fishing and recreation on the state’s bodies of water and waterways.
Fleck talked about those who brought him to love the sport of fishing. His passion for fishing began in 1981.
“I was introduced to fishing in a way I couldn’t even possibly imagine,” he said of a fishing trip where 10 walleye weighing more than 47 lbs. were caught.
Fleck was hooked. His passion for fishing and Lake Sakakawea continues to grow exponentially.
In his closing remarks, looking over the anglers who would hit Lake Sakakawea for the 41st running of the N.D. Governor’s Cup Walleye Derby, Fleck reminded them: “Don’t take it for granted. Please. She’s a great resource.”
Following the induction ceremony, Fleck said he was without words when he got the call, telling him he’d be joining the N.D. Fishing Hall of Fame.
