New Town sharpshooters down Braves
By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves were favored to repeat at Region Champions, but a determined New Town Eagles squad used their speed and some long range sharpshooters to squeak out a three point victory over the Parshall team 78-75.
"I guess they wanted it a tiny bit more than we did," said Braves Head Coach Wade Baker. "We wanted it too. We had a few chances on fast breaks to make a few baskets and it didn’t happen. It was there, but it didn’t happen."
The Braves had an easy time with the Tioga Pirates, outscoring them 37-22 in the first half on their way to 66-42 win in the first round of the tournament. Goodbird led the Braves with 20 points with Simpson and Jelani Foote adding 14 apiece.
