Parshall drops to 1-1 in Dynamic Dozen tourney

Parshall’s Lady Braves were hoping to stay undefeated but ran into a buzzsaw in the Ray Jays Tuesday night, falling by five points to even out their early-season girls basketball record.
Ray and Parshall, both coming off Monday night wins, were close all the way through the contest and Ray held a slight 27-25 lead going into halftime in the Dynamic Dozen Tournament held in Stanley.
But Ray pulled away, ever so slightly, in the second half to come out on top at the final buzzer, 52-47.
Parshall was led by Samantha Risan who scored 15 points to keep the Braves on pace with the taller Jays. Nicole Packineau added 10 to round out double figures and was followed by Destiny Steele, who added nine.
Ray was led by the unstoppable Samantha Heier, who poured in 31 points from all over the floor. Kendra Heier added 15 to send the Jays to a 2-0 record as the tournament winds down.
On Monday night, the Lady Braves opened the season, and the tournament, with a 63-50 win over the Burke County Titans.
