When the Parshall girls track team arrived in Tioga, they knew they were going to do well, but they didn’t think they would easily win the Williams County invitational on Monday or beat Watford City by 10 points on Thursday.
But that is what happened Parshall finished on top in the Williams County meet with 189.5 points, far ahead of second place Stanley with 120.5. Lewis and Clark was third, followed by Divide County and Trenton.
In the Tioga invite held last Thursday, Parshall emerged the winner with 163 points, followed by Watford City 153, Williams County 81, Kenmare 65 and Divide County 54.
First-place winners in the Tioga invitational included, Samantha Risan in the 100-meter dash at :12.95 and in the 200-meter dash at :17.73. In the 100, Risan was followed by Madeleinne Zacher in second place at :13.02.
Desiree Wells took top honors in the 800-meter run at 2:37:94 and was followed closely by teammate Alexis Woods in 2:43.07. The 400-meter relay team of Woods, Maisey Gillies, Zacher and Risan won the 400-meter relay in :54.53, beating Watford City by about a tenth of a second. The same team had the same result in the 800-meter relay, taking that event in 1:55.19, also knocking out Watford City.
