Parshall knocks off New Town in District 15 tournament action

When these two teams get together you can throw out the statistics because no matter how good either team may be, you just know this game is going to be an exciting contest. And the teams didn’t disappoint the District 15 fans as this opening round game went down to the wire.
Parshall would eventually emerge a 49-47 winner, but not without plenty of drama as both teams worked hard to win the game. The game was even almost all the way through and players on both sides were visibly tired as this game came to a close.
This game featured three lead changes in the first quarter and two three-pointers by New Town freshman Taylor McGrady. Although the game started out slow, the first quarter ended in a 14-14 tie.
Things got a little interesting in the second when New Town scored the first six points but then neither team could score for a full three minutes until Parshall picked up a couple of garbage buckets to cut the lead to 20-18.
The game went right back into a stall, both teams traded a couple of baskets and the half ended 23-20.
The Lady Braves came out smoking in the second half with two quick baskets and a Destiny Steele three-pointer to take their first lead since early in the first at 27-25. New Town tied the game at 27, Parshall regained the lead on a Nicole Packineau free throw, but the Eagles picked up the next two buckets and the next thing anyone knew the quarter was over with New Town owning a 33-30 lead.
As the fourth unfolded, Parshall regained the lead, 34-33 on another Nicole Packineau free throw and Samantha Risan hit the next bucket to give Parshall a 36-33 edge.
