Warriors working hard

Team opens with one-sided victory

By STU MERRY

If the White Shield girls basketball team’s first game of the season is any indication, things could be looking pretty good for the Lady Warriors.

The ladies blew out Mandaree 51-30 Dec. 17. Tom Six, White Shield girls coach, said he thought things went well for the first game of the season. "The defense looked very solid," he said.

The team played well together during the game with three girls scoring in double figures. Leading the way was Sheyenne Fox with 17. Aaliyah Howling Wolf, a freshman, added 15, and Gabby Nolan 12 for the Warriors. "Not a bad start to the year," Six said.

The Lady Warriors continue to be young, but with youth gaining valued experience, that time on the court can only benefit the squad as the season progresses.

"We need to understand a few things yet on both ends of the floor," the coach said.

A key player for the Warriors is Nolan, whom Six said possesses a good inside game. Gabby has some street cred. She’s an All-District player.
