Wells dominates for Braves

Wells dominates for Braves

The Parshall Braves Boys’ cross country team only had three runners in the state meet and were led by last year’s individual champion, Ken Wells, Jr. The 2010 champion added to his brilliant high school career as he crossed the finish line (16:12.7) with no competition in sight bringing back-to-back individual titles. Dailray Connor (25th place-18:24.59) and Chace Hale (34th place-18:42.75), along with two ghost runners helped the Braves boys finish with 405 points for 11th place overall. Ken Wells, Jr., was named “Senior Athlete of the Year” for class “B” boys.
“I thought the boys ran very well,” said Parshall Braves head coach, Harlan Johnson. “They had to use two ghost scores. With two more runners we probably could have finished in the top seven. For three guys, they did really well. I was really proud of those three boys of what they accomplished; they all worked real hard the entire year. Hopefully, next year, Dailray and Chace can make it up in that top 20 and be all-staters . Cross country is a very fun sport to coach.”
“Ken was a fine young man to work with,” Johnson continued. “He never complained. He always did what he had to in practice for the team. “
Ken Wells, Jr., father, Ken Wells, has been the assistant coach for the Braves for the past nine years and he was able to be a part of his son’s great high school career.
