The New Town School Board approved a bid to extend the geothermal heating system that will be installed in the new high school complex to the middle school.

Area taxable sales continue to escalate
The oil boom continues to be a boon for sales tax collections in Mountrail County. According to the North Dakota Tax Department, tax receipts from the third quarter of 2011 were double from the year before in Mountrail, Burke and Williams Counties.

The Lakeside Community Living Center in New Town received a generous donation of $50,000 from Doris Ogden of Minot, ND formerly of Stanley in loving memory of her husband Ross (Sonny) Ogden.
Search expands for missing Riverdale man
Ronald Johnson, a 74-year-old man from Riverdale, went missing Oct. 15 and authorities have found little evidence of his whereabouts or his 1982 gold Fleetwood Cadillac since then.
