Scott Eagle, 50, a former North Segment Representative on the TAT Tribal Business Council, died after a boating accident on Tuesday, July 30. His body was recovered near the Four Bears Bridge on Friday, August 2.
Eagle was on a family boating outing on Tuesday when he apparently fell overboard about 11 p.m. His family called 911 and an immediate search and rescue operation was started.
Wednesday, an incident command center was created on the 4 Bears Casino yacht Sacajawea. Marle Baker coordinated the search from the boat.
On Thursday, Tribal Councilwoman Judy Brugh called for volunteers to search the shore of the Lake. More than 30 volunteers attended a briefing at the Tribal Council Building Thursday before heading out to search both sides of the lake. More volunteers went directly to the Sacajawea to register for the search.
The Eagle family created a page on Facebook to help coordinate the search, and later to allow the public to post photos and remembrances of Scott Eagle. More than 1,100 people had “liked” the Bringing Scotty Home page as of Wednesday.
